I've been sharing Leah's story of her time with John's people, how she lost her son, and how he might still be alive on Washington Island...

I had gotten as far as the winter of 2010-11, when predatory groups like The Rapture's Reapers and the Cannibal Gangs became a problem.

06:29 AM #
Their group had relied upon a flotilla of salvaged and zompocalypse-modified Wisconsin Dells tourist ducks for amphibious maneuverability.

06:32 AM #
They had other boats, too, including large amphibious construction barges with salvaged mortars on them. They defended their territory well.

06:35 AM #
John knew, however, that it was just a matter of time before one of their foes mustered a more serious attack. He decided to bug out.

06:38 AM #
They used the winter (and the respite gained when the Reapers migrated south for the season) to prepare. They prepped trucks and trailers.

06:41 AM #
Those vehicles were used to haul their non-amphibious craft during the groups' journey to Lake Winnebago, where John thought they'd be safe.

06:44 AM #
He figured the mundane plagues that ripped through the survivors of that area in the first months after the zombie plague had burned out.

06:47 AM #
It hadn't completely, but the population there was nearly annihilated, so John's people could made Lake Winnebago their own. #zompocalypse

06:50 AM #
It was around that time that they encountered survivors that I'd met during my journey around the state the previous year. #zompocalypse

06:53 AM #
Shawn was sent to Wausau to make contact and find out what I'd learned on my trip. We met and became friends, and I went back with him.

06:56 AM #
When we got to winter compound John's people had been building, we found it abandoned. Everyone was gone. Their ducks, too. #zompocalypse

06:59 AM #
We later learned they'd lost some people to the still lingering pandemic that had killed so many in that area. They moved on to Shawano.

07:02 AM #
Leah was busy during that time. Her efforts kept the rest of the duck people alive. Meanwhile, Tina was part of a group looking for Shawn.

07:05 AM #
That effort cost her companions on that trip their lives. Shawn saved her, and they began their relationship. Some of this was news to Leah.

07:08 AM #
What kept Leah out of the loop was tending to sick and wounded patients after the pandemic and several encounters with unfriendly survivors.

07:11 AM #
That's it for now. I have to help Shawn re-rig his tandem electric trolling motors set-up. #zombie #zombies #zompocalypse
